Fullerton Police Recover Stolen Honda Civic Minutes After Theft Report — Two Arrested

On the morning of February 18, 2012, an officer from the Fullerton Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from a 1999 Honda Civic reported stolen 16 minutes earlier to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department – Compton.
After obtaining a description of the vehicle, the officer tracked it to a residential neighborhood in the 1000 block of S. Magnolia Avenue and located it, parked and unoccupied in a residential complex. Assisting officers responded and established a perimeter. An undercover unit responded and maintained visual surveillance; they soon observed a male and female acting suspiciously, walking near the abandoned vehicle. Shortly after, both subjects appeared on bicycles, and when they observed the officers, the male rode off on the bicycle, then fled on foot. Both were quickly apprehended. Property that had been in the car was located on the female. Both suspects were booked on charges related to vehicle theft and receiving stolen property.
The Honda Civic was held for crime scene processing and later stored until it could be retrieved by the victim. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Civic at the original owner’s request at Auto Select in February 1999.
