Ford F350 Flatbed Stolen from Store — Quickly Tracked and Recovered by Police Using LoJack

On the afternoon of January 13, 2012, a 2008 Ford F-350 flatbed truck was stolen from the Home Depot Store in Mesa, California. Upon discovery of the theft, the store manager contacted the Mesa Police Department to report the crime. Mesa Police entered information about the stolen Ford into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford truck.
Minutes later, officers wiht the Mesa Police Department began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen F-350 on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the computer cues, the officers tracked the Ford to an apartment building in the 1400 block of North 3rd Avenue. There, they observed the stolen F-350 in the parking lot. Police were unable to locate any suspects at the scene; officers recovered the vehicle and alerted the store that it could be retrieved.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford F350 at the owner’s request in October 2007.
