On February 5, 2012, officers from the LAPD-Topanga Division picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from a 2007 Toyota Camry reported stolen 19 minutes earlier to the LAPD-Mission Division. Following directions from the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle, the officers tracked and located the stolen Camry traveling in the opposite direction.

The officers made a u-turn and continued to track the vehicle to Strathern Street and Nita Avenue. Additional units arrived, the officers stopped the vehicle, and a search was conducted. Three suspects were found inside the stolen vehicle; all three were taken into custody without incident on auto theft-related charges. This investigation is being conducted by detectives from LAPD-Topanga Division.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Camry at the owner’s request in October of 2006.
