Classic 1961 Chevrolet Stolen in Inglewood Recovered in Minutes, Along with Stolen Property — One Arrest

On February 7, 2012, patrol deputies from LASD-Palmdale Station picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from a 1961 Chevrolet Impala, reported stolen 19 minutes earlier to the Inglewood Police Department. Following the cues on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles, the deputies tracked the Impala to a private residence in the 37000 block of Boysenberry. Once there, the deputies notified detectives from the auto theft task force to respond to the location.

The detectives obtained permission from the owner of the house to check the garage for the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was recovered, and one suspect was taken into custody without incident on auto theft-related charges. The detectives also recovered stolen property, including computers, mail, and credit cards. This investigation is still ongoing.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this classic Chevrolet Impala at the owner’s request in August 2004.
