Honda Civic Stolen and Recovered in Queens, Undamaged, with Golf Clubs Still Inside

On January 30, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Honda Civic was stolen while parked near the owner’s residence on 35th Ave in Bayside, Queens, New York. When the owner discovered that his vehicle was stolen, he immediately notified NYPD of the theft. The police entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda.   

A short while later, officers assigned to NYPD’s 111th precinct picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda Civic on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the computer’s cues, the officers tracked and located the stolen Honda parked in a residential area on 216th Street and 43rd Avenue in Bayside, Queens. Police conducted surveillance for several hours, but failed to locate the suspect(s); the officers eventually contacted the owner and released the undamaged auto to the owner at the recovery location. The owner was not only thrilled with the quick LoJack recovery but also that his golf clubs were still inside his trunk.
