Stolen Toyota Tundra Recovered Undamaged by San Diego Police Using LoJack

On the morning of January 21, 2012, the owners of a 2004 Toyota Tundra pickup truck discovered that their vehicle had been stolen and reported the theft to the San Diego Police Department.
San Diego officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had information about the stolen Toyota entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota and initiated the tracking of the pickup.
Minutes later, officers with the San Diego Police Department began picking up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in the patrol car. Following the computer’s directional cues, the officers located the Tundra pickup truck, abandoned in the 2200 block of Dunlop Street. The vehicle was recovered undamaged.
This Toyota Tundra had been installed with a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System five years ago earlier in Lemon Grove, California. The current owner was happy to learn that police had quickly recovered the pickup, and even happier when she was able to drive the undamaged vehicle home from the recovery site.
