CHP Santa Fe Springs Officers Uncover Chop Shop, Suspect Identified

On the morning of January 28, 2012, a California Highway Patrol officer from the Santa Fe Springs area was on highway patrol in his LoJack-equipped cruiser when he picked up the silent LoJack signal from a stolen 1995 Honda Civic reported stolen minutes earlier. After obtaining a description of the stolen vehicle, he tracked the signal to the 9400 block of Bana Road in the city of Pico Rivera. There, the officer located the Honda Civic on a residential property.
During the investigation, a female at the residence informed the officer that there were other stolen Honda vehicle on her property that had been stripped. Investigators from the CHP ISU LA unit responded and obtained consent to search the property from the resident. During that search, they discovered two other Hondas, a 1999 Honda Civic stolen from West Covina, and a 1997 Honda Accord stolen from Duarte. Both of these vehicles had been stripped. The investigators obtained information about the individual he was described as an active gang member, with tattoos and devil horns protruding from his bald head. CHP investigators indicated that he would be easy to locate with this description, and should be in custody soon. This incident is “Chop Shop” #428 for LoJack of So Cal.
The original owner of this 1995 Honda Civic had the LoJack Vehicle Recovery System installed at Norm Reeves Honda in February 1995.
