When the owners of a 2006 Toyota Corolla discovered that their vehicle had been stolen on New Year’s Day 2012, they reported the theft to the San Diego Police Department.  It was the police department’s routine entry of the vehicle information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Less than an hour later,  San Diego ground and air units began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Corolla on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol car and helicopter. Folllowing the computer cues, the officers located the vehicle minutes later in the 3800 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The undamaged vehicle was recovered and returned to the grateful owner.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Corolla four years ago in California.
