LoJack Leads Police to Stolen Acura Integra and Arrest of 3 Professional Auto Thieves

On the evening of January 10, 2012, the owner of a 1997 Acura Integra parked the vehicle outside of his residence and went inside for the night. When he returned for the vehicle the following morning, he discovered it missing and immediately contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office (SDCSO) to report the theft.
San Diego deputies responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Acura’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Acura and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
Later that evening, SDCSO -Vista Station deputies began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the computer cues, the deputies tracked the Acura to an apartment complex. There, they located the Acura, parked in an assigned parking stall. The deputies made contact with the persons living in the corresponding apartment unit, and obtained a consent search. Inside, the deputies discovered a variety of burglary tools, shaved-off Honda keys and methamphetamine. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of three suspects for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and possession of a controlled substance.
The Acura was recovered intact, undamaged and returned the grateful owner at the scene.
