Ford Expedition Stolen and Recovered for 2nd Time — Two Suspects Arrested

On January 4, 2012, a Pomona Police Department Auto Theft Detective was on patrol when his onboard LoJack Police Tracking Computer began to pick up a signal. The detective learned that the signal was coming from a stolen 1999 Ford Expedition that had been entered as stolen by Los Angeles County Sheriff Temple Station Deputies approximately 15 minutes earlier.
After obtaining a description of the stolen Ford, the detective tracked the signal to the area of the Fair Grounds in Pomona. There, he observed the vehicle exiting a complex off Brinkley and McKinley, with a female driving. He followed the vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop at Garvey Ave and Artesia detaining the female driver without further incident.
During a field investigation, the detective learned that the female was given the vehicle by a male who was the listed suspect in the crime report. A follow-up investigation led officers to a motel, where the male was contacted and arrested. Both suspects were booked for the vehicle theft charges. The recovered Ford was stored and later released to the owner, undamaged.
This was the second time this Ford Expedition had been stolen, tracked and recovered by LoJack since October 2010. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed at the original owner’s request in January 1999 by Ray Andrews Ford.
