This case is a great example of synergy- when multiple elements work to together to create an effect greater than each could alone. In this case, ground and air divisions of California law enforcement join forces with the LoJack® system to recover a missing Audi A4 on the same day that it was stolen.

On April 14th, 2014, the owner of an Audi A4 contacted the Riverside Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was taken by a person that was making repairs on the vehicle. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the A4, which was installed at Pacific Audi in Torrance, CA.

A short while later, flight officers picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their air unit. The Audi was located traveling in the area of 3rd Street and Vermont Ave and ground assistance was requested. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was taken into custody. The A4 was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
