The victim in this next case was at work in Universal City, TX, probably waiting for his shift to end so he could hop in his Ford F-250 and head home. Imagine his shock when he got out to the parking lot and discovered his truck had been stolen. The LoJack® system, which had been installed when the truck was purchased, helped to ease this crisis. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered the pickup in less than a half hour after activation.

On March 18th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the Universal City Police Department and reported that his pickup had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton, TX.

Just a few minutes later, a sergeant from the San Antonio PD Auto Crimes Task Force picked up the homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The trooper discovered the Ford was traveling on the same highway as his cruiser, began following the truck and requested backup. A traffic stop was performed and the driver was taken into custody. The F-250 was retrieved and returned to its grateful owner.
