When the San Francisco, CA resident in this case discovered his Harley Davidson Fat Bob missing, he was glad he had the LoJack® system installed when he bought his bike. His local law enforcement was pleased as well- not only did LoJack help them recover the bike in only 75 minutes after activation, but it uncovered a local chop shop with several other stolen vehicles as well.

On March 7th, 2014, the Harley’s owner contacted San Francisco Police to report the motorcycle was missing from an underground parking garage. Officers verified the crime information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Fat Bob, which was installed at Peninsula Harley-Davidson in Redwood City, CA.

A little over an hour later, a California Highway Patrol helicopter picked up the homing signals from the stolen bike on its onboard LoJack tracking computer. The flight crew located the bike in Daly City and notified ground units. The Daly City officers located the Harley inside a closed business, where they also found two suspects, another stolen motorcycle, three stolen cars, and several assorted parts. The two were taken into custody, and the Fat Bob was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner. The total value of all recovered property was over $50,000.
