On February 5, 2012, patrol officers from the Santa Maria Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from a 2005 Nissan Altima reported stolen one hour earlier to the Salinas Police Department. Following the cues on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles, the officers tracked the stolen Nissan to a hotel in the area of Inger Drive and Broadway.

At the hotel, the officers conducted an investigation and were able to locate the driver of the vehicle, who had possession of the Nissan’s keys. The suspect was taken into custody for Driving Without Owner’s Consent, without incident. Detectives from the Santa Maria Police Department are conducting the investigation.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Nissan Altima at the owner’s request in January 2008.
