A Toyota dealership in Roseville, CA, brought a 2014 Toyota Tundra Crew Cab 4X4 to an offsite vendor to have custom tires and wheels installed. Unfortunately, a thief was able to steal the truck from the tire dealer’s location. On the plus side, the dealership had already installed the LoJack® system to protect the truck, and, with LoJack’s assistance, it took only 11 minutes after activation for local police to recover it.

On February 19th, 2014, the incident was reported to the Roseville Police. Officers completed a theft report and entered the vehicle information into the California stolen vehicle system and the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tundra.

Just a few minutes later, a California Highway Patrol helicopter equipped with a LoJack tracking computer began to receive the homing signal from the stolen truck in the area of Sunrise and Roseville Parkway and requested ground assistance. Roseville ground officers located the Toyota traveling near the intersection of Roseville Parkway and Creekside Rd and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, who had several prior arrests for auto theft, was taken into custody. The Tundra, valued at $39,500, was soon returned to the very relieved dealership.
