What would be worse than arriving at the body shop where you had dropped off your vehicle for repair and finding your car wasn’t there? How about discovering the entire business was gone? This actually happened recently in North Miami, FL, to the owner of a 2012 Toyota Camry. The LoJack® system that he had installed when purchasing his Camry proved to be a smart investment. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to locate the vehicle in less than a half hour after activation.

On February 12th, 2014, the Toyota’s contacted the North Miami Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Maroone Toyota in Davie, FL.

Within minutes of activation, a Miami-Dade PD officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on his on-board LoJack tracking computer. The Toyota was located at another body shop on N.W. 78th Street. Police retrieved the Camry and soon returned it to its thankful owner.
