When a Melroe Skid Steer was stolen from a job site in Las Vegas, NV, the thieves probably thought they were being clever by hiding it in the nearby desert.  This effort was thwarted by the LoJack® system which led police to the location, assisting in a quick and safe recovery.

On January 31st, 2014, the site workers discovered the Melroe missing and contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the stolen equipment information into the NCIC stolen vehicle system, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed on the skid steer.

A short while later, a K-9 officer with the LVMP began picking up the homing signal from the stolen machine with his LoJack equipped patrol vehicle. He located the Melroe parked and abandoned in the desert. The undamaged skid steer was retrieved and soon returned to the job site.
