The California owners of a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta discovered their vehicle missing just after 2:30 on a Monday afternoon. They were worried- but not for long. Thanks to the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their vehicle, local police were able to safely recover it in just over a half hour after activation.

On January 6th, 2014, the VW’s owners called police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Jetta, which was installed at Galpin Volkswagen in North Hills, CA.

A short while later, police officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the VW near 71St Street and Figueroa Street, where it was parked and unoccupied with the keys still in the ignition. The undamaged Jetta was retrieved and soon returned to its very grateful owner.
