Fast recovery of stolen vehicles is what the LoJack® system was created to facilitate. In this case, a Mercedes Benz S430 stolen from its owner’s residence in San Diego, CA was recovered in just over an hour after activation.

On December 10th, 2013, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the San Diego Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the S430, which was installed at Miramar VM Audi in Miramar, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, officers from the SDPD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the Audi to 2nd Street in the city of San Diego, where they found it parked and abandoned. The undamaged A4 was swiftly returned to its relieved owner.
