This case involves a Ford F250 work truck was stolen from a construction site in Oakland, CA. The company’s owners wanted to protect their asset, so they had the LoJack® system installed when they purchased the pickup. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover the vehicle in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On December 11th, 2013, the Ford’s owners contacted Oakland Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, Richmond Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the stolen truck in downtown Richmond, where it was parked and abandoned on the street.  The undamaged F250 was soon returned to its grateful owners.
