Early one Thursday morning, a Brooklyn, NY resident discovered his 2010 Toyota Camry missing from where he had parked it near his residence. The car’s owner discovered what a wise decision it had been to have the LoJack® system installed when buying his car, because, with LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover it that same day.

On November 21st, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the NYPD to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Hackensack, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, officers from NYPD’s 30th precinct picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers spotted the Toyota on the move and performed a traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody and the undamaged Camry was soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
