The BMW 530i in this case was stolen one Tuesday evening while the owner’s home was being burglarized. The victim contacted local police, who activated the LoJack® system in the 530i and recovered it the same night, hopefully making this horrible evening a little less traumatic.

On October 15th, 2013, the BMW’s owner contacted San Diego Police to report the crimes. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the 530i, which was installed at BMW of San Diego, CA.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood in San Diego, where they found the BMW parked and abandoned. The undamaged 530i was soon returned to its grateful owners.
