The LoJack® system is ready to go 24-7. It doesn’t take vacations, and it doesn’t take weekends off. Once a vehicle with LoJack is reported stolen to law enforcement, the hidden transponder sends a silent signal to police to help them recover the car, truck, van or motorcycle quickly. In this case, a BMW 323 taken on a Sunday morning is tracked in less than an hour after activation.

On October 13th, 2013, the BMW’s owner reported the incident to the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the 323, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in San Jose, CA.

Less than 60 minutes later, deputies with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department began to receive the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputy tracked and located the BMW parked and abandoned near the intersection of Frank and Germain streets in south Sacramento. The 323 was soon returned to its happy owner.
