When the Los Angeles, CA resident in this case discovered his BMW X5 missing, he immediately called local police. Officers tracked the car using the LoJack® system, recovered it in less than 90 minutes after activation, and shot down an illegal stolen auto part business as well.

On September 29th, 2013, the BMW’s owners contacted local police, who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the X5, which was installed at McKenna Volkswagen Porsche Audi in Norwalk, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Aero Bureau Air-7 flight deputies were on routine patrol when their aircraft received the homing signal from the stolen on its LoJack tracking computer. They tracked the signal to a commercial area and contacted ground units. Officers located the BMW in an auto shop. Upon searching the premises, officers recovered parts from several other stolen BMWs. The shop’s owner was taken into custody and the X5 was soon returned to its relieved owner.
