This case illustrates how important it is to make sure you know someone well before you invite them to be your houseguest. When this Honda Accord owner had two male friends stay overnight in his Long Beach, CA home, he probably did not expect to wake up and find one of them, along with his keys and his car, gone. The LoJack® system installed in the Accord came to the rescue, helping local police recover the vehicle in just 39 minutes after activation.

On August 30th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Long Beach Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Honda World in Westminster, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) – Santa Clarita Station picked up the homing signal from the Honda on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The deputies located the vehicle in the area of Golden Triangle Road and Ruther Ave. Two suspects were taken into custody. The Accord was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
