This case involves two branches of law enforcement in East Los Angeles, CA, working together, assisted by the LoJack® system, to recover a stolen Honda Civic in less than an hour after activation.

On July 28th, 2013, the Civic’s owners contacted the California Highway Patrol East LA area to report their vehicle had been stolen. CHP Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos, CA.

A short while later, an Auto Theft Detective from the LASD East Los Angeles Station picked up the homing signal from the Civic on the LoJack tacking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He located the vehicle traveling on S. Alma St. and stopped it, taking the driver into custody. The Honda was soon returned to its relieved owner.
