In this case, a Maryland motel guest found their vehicle missing from the parking lot late one night, but, thanks to the local police, assisted by the LoJack® system, their vehicle was recovered early the next morning, providing much needed relief along with their continental breakfast and free newspaper.

On July 18th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner reported their car was stolen from the parking lot of a local chain motel to the Aberdeen, MD police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Toyota, which was installed at Bill Kidd’s Timonium Toyota in Cockeysville, MD.

A short time later, a trooper with the Maryland State Police picked up the homing signals from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The trooper tracked the Corolla being driven and followed it to a convenience store where the car stopped and parked. The driver was arrested and the Toyota, valued at over $17,000, was soon returned to its grateful owner.
