In this case, a GMC Sierra was stolen from some Whittier, CA residents who found out their vehicle was missing right after breakfast. Their local police, aided by the LoJack® system, were able to recover it before lunchtime.

On June 29th, 2013, the Sierra’s owners contacted the Whittier Police to report their vehicle had been stolen. Whittier PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Harris Oldsmobile/GMC in Whittier, CA.

A short while later, a California Highway Patrol officer picked up the homing signal from the GMC on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He contacted nearby units and another CHP officer located the Sierra traveling westbound on the 210 Freeway.  A traffic stop was initiated in Duarte, and the suspect was taken into custody. The GMC was soon returned to its happy owners.
