This San Diego resident got quite a shock one Wednesday morning when he exited his home to find his 2008 Scion XD was missing. It’s a good thing he had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his Scion, so local law enforcement was able to retrieve his car that same day.

On April 3rd, 2013, the XD’s owner contacted San Diego Police to report that his vehicle was stolen from her residence. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Scion, which was installed at Autoland in Poway, CA.

SDPD officers picked up the homing signals from the Scion on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the vehicle to a commercial neighborhood near Mira Mesa Blvd. in San Diego, where they found the XS parked and abandoned. The Scion, valued at approximately $11,300, was soon returned to its relieved owner.
