On February 21, 2013, the owner of a Mazda Tribute, which had a LoJack® device installed at Claremont Ford in Claremont, CA, contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in San Diego. The police entered the vehicle information into their crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tribute.

In a short while, San Diego PD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen Mazda on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles, and were able to quickly locate the abandoned Tribute in a park and ride lot in San Diego.  The vehicle was soon returned to its happy and relieved owner.
