National City Police Recover Mercedes Benz GL450 Stolen in Chula Vista Residential Burglary

On February 13, 2013, the owners of a 2008 Mercedes Benz GL450 contacted the Chula Vista Police Department to report the theft of their vehicle during a residential burglary in the city of Chula Vista.
Chula Vista Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mercedes Benz.
Within minutes, officers from the National City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Mercedes Benz on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to East 7th Street in National City. Chula Vista Police was contacted to perform the recovery report on the vehicle. Later that evening, Chula Vista police arrested a suspect involved in a residential burglary that was in possession of items that were stolen from the Mercedes Benz GL450.
The owners were very happy when Chula Vista Police contacted them to advise that the vehicle was recovered abandoned and undamaged. The Mercedes Benz was valued at approximately $47,150.
