Fresno Air & Ground Units Use LoJack to Recover Stolen Ford Fusion, Found Undamaged

On January 13, 2013, the owner of a 2006 Ford Fusion contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Fresno Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford.
A short while later, the flight crew from Air One, a Fresno Police Department helicopter, received the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford on the Police Tracking Computer installed in the aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the flight crew tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex near Marks and Shaw Avenues in northwest Fresno. Ground units responded to the area and located the vehicle, unoccupied and abandoned in the parking lot of the complex.
The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this 2006 Ford Fusion by Chino Hills Ford in Chino, California in June of 2007. This vehicle is valued at $11,700.
