LoJack Helps Stockton Police Recover Stolen BMW 330 I

On January 25, 2013, the owner of a 2002 BMW 330 I discovered his vehicle stolen and reported the theft to the Stockton Police Department.
Stockton Police verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the BMW. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Transponder because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, officers with the Stockton Police Department and the San Joaquin Sheriffs Office both began to receive the silent signal from the LoJack transponder that was hidden in the now stolen BMW. The officers then used the directional and signal strength cues from their onboard LoJack Police Tracking Computers to track the vehicle to a residence on Mirada Street, west of Highway 99. The officers observed the vehicle in the backyard. Officers contacted the residents and were given information on who brought the vehicle over. Officers are conducting a follow-up investigation on the suspect information.
The victim was contacted and responded to take possession of his BMW.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the BMW 330 I at Roseville BMW in December of 2012. The approximate value of the recovered BMW is $10,000.
