LoJack-Equipped Chevrolet Silveardo Leads Los Angeles Police to Recover 2nd Stolen Silverado

On December 21, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Lakewood Station to report that their vehicle was stolen from the street in Lakewood, California.
Deputies with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet.
A short while later, detectives from a Los Angeles County Auto Theft Unit (TRAP) picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chevrolet on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the signal to a dead end street in the city of Los Angeles. There, they observed the parked and unoccupied vehicle, along with another stolen 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. They recovered both stolen vehicles.
The vehicles were missing their wheels and tires only. The value of the LoJack-equipped Silveardo was $19,800 and the value of the other vehicle was $10,400, for a total recovery value in excess of $30,000.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado on August of 2007 at Rancho Valley Chevrolet in Pomona, California.
