On December 25, 2012 the owner of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze contacted the Corcoran Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The Corcoran Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later, a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chevrolet on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the deputy tracked the vehicle to an orchard near Pond and Driver Roads south of the city of Delano. The deputy observed the vehicle parked in the orchard, unoccupied and abandoned.

The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was towed pending release to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet in December of 2011 at Liberty Chevrolet in Selma, California. This vehicle is valued at $16,100.
