LoJack Helps California Highway Patrol Recover Ford F550 Bucket Truck Stolen in Commercial Burglary

On November 24, 2012, the owners of a 2008 Ford F-550 (Bucket Truck) contacted the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division to report that their vehicle was stolen during a commercial burglary.

LAPD verified the theft and entered the Ford’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, patrol officers from CHP-Antelope Valley Station picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Ford on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked and located the Ford in the Antelope Valley. Detectives from the LAPD-Van Nuys Division are conducting the investigation.

The vehicle, valued at $50,000, was recovered and impounded for safe keeping.
