Chrysler PT Cruiser Stolen in Sanger, CA, Recovered by Fresno Police Using LoJack

On October 7, 2012 the owner of a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser contacted the Sanger Police Department to report that the vehicle had been stolen from in front of their residence. The Sanger Police Department verified the theft and entered the Chrysler’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
Minutes later, an investigator from Fresno HEAT, the Fresno County Auto Theft Task Force, picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chrysler on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his undercover vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the investigator tracked the vehicle to an orchard near California and Rainbow Avenues near the city of Sanger. The vehicle was found unoccupied and abandoned in the orchard.
The vehicle was recovered intact and sustained only minor damage; it was released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2007 Chrysler at Autoland in Clovis, California in March of 2009. This vehicle is valued at $8500.
