LoJack Aids Manteca Police in Recovering Chevrolet Avalanche Stolen in Sacramento

On September 19, 2012, the owner of a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche contacted the Sacramento Police Department to report the vehicle stolen. After verifying the theft, Sacramento Police had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet.
A short while later, officers with the Manteca Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Chevrolet on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol cars. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the stolen vehicle to a garage in a residential area in the south part of the city. The officers made contact with the resident and recovered the Chevrolet from the garage.
Information and circumstances of the theft were forwarded to Sacramento detectives for follow up. The approximate value of the recovered Chevy Avalanche is $13,900.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet Avalanche at Elk Grove Nissan in September of 2006.
