LoJack Helps San Diego Police Recover BMW 128I Stolen from Store Parking Lot

On September 16, 2012, the owner of a 2012 BMW 128I contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from a store parking lot on Adel Avenue in the city of San Diego.
San Diego Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the BMW.
A short while later, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen BMW 128I on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to parking lot in a commercial neighborhood at the 6200 block of El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego.
The owner was very happy when San Diego Police contacted him to recover the vehicle, which was found abandoned and undamaged. The vehicle was valued at approximately $35,000.
