LoJack Aids LAPD Air & Ground Units in Recovery of Stolen Ford Expedition, One Suspect Arrested

On September 13, 2012, the owners of 2003 Ford Expedition contacted the Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.

LAPD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford.

LAPD “Air 10” flight officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Ford on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their air unit. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the flight officers tracked and located the stolen vehicle parked in a parking lot in the area of Fenwick and Sherman Grove.  LAPD-Foothill patrol officers responded to the location and took one suspect into custody for auto theft-related charges without incident. The vehicle, valued at $15,200, was recovered and impounded for safekeeping.
