On September 18, 2012, the owner of the 2008 Land Rover SUV contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department to report the vehicle stolen from his townhome parking lot. The owner had recently purchased the vehicle from Car Mart in North Houston, and was unaware that his SUV was equipped with a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System.

Montgomery County deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Land Rover.

A short while later, officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Land Rover on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to large townhome community on the west side of Houston. The Land Rover showed no signs of damage, and the owner arrived at the scene to recover the vehicle.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2008 Land Rover SUV on December 2011 in QC Illinois Inspection in Westwood, Massachusetts.
