LoJack Helps Massachusetts Police Recover Chevrolet Impala Stolen in Grafton, 2 Arrested

On August 29, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala contacted the Grafton Police Department for the second time in as many years, to report that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway on Waterville Street in Grafton. According to the victim, the theft occurred sometime during the early morning hours, and his keys and his nephew were also missing.
The Grafton Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet.
A short while later, officers from neighboring Shrewsbury and Worcester Police Departments and Massachusetts State Troopers picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chevrolet on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the stolen Impala to the area of the Worcester Airport, where they observed two occupants inside. They immediately conducted a felony stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Worcester Street and Airport Road. After a brief investigation, the two suspects were placed under arrest on a variety of felony charges and transported to the Grafton Police Department for processing. The undamaged vehicle was recovered with the keys inside, and towed for safekeeping until it could be returned to the victim.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet Impala on November 6, 2010 at Herb Chambers Ford in Westborough, Massachusetts.
