Mazda MZ3 Stolen in Huntington Beach, Recovered in Placentia by Police Using LoJack — 2 Arrested

On September 17, 2012, the owner of a 2010 Mazda MZ3 contacted the Huntington Beach Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen.
Huntington Beach Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
A short while later, officers from Cal State University Fullerton Police Department had picked up the silent LoJack signal in the area of Chapman Ave and Placentia. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack computers, the officers, along with backup, tracked the stolen Mazda to the 770 block of Placentia Avenue. There, the officers spotted the moving vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop, taking two male subjects into custody without further incident. The suspects were brought to the police department and detained for further investigation by station detectives. The vehicle was stored for safe keeping and later released to the owner, undamaged.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Mazda MZ3 at Garden Grove Hyundai.
