San Diego Police Arrest Juvenile for Theft of BMW 328I and Recover Vehicle, Thanks to LoJack

On August 23, 2012, the owner of a 2008 BMW 328I contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the city of San Diego. San Diego Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the BMW.

A short while later, officers from San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen BMW on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential area at Buckland and Childe Street in La Mesa.  The officers arrested a juvenile suspect who was observed sitting in the vehicle.

The BMW, valued at $25,000, was recovered undamaged and returned to the very happy owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the BMW 328I on April 10, 2008 at BMW of San Diego in San Diego.
