LAPD Officers Recover Infiniti G35 Stolen in North Hollywood — Suspect Arrested After Car/Foot Chase

On August 3, 2012, the owners of a 2005 Infiniti G35 contacted the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division to report that their vehicle was stolen. LAPD verified the theft and entered the Infiniti’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
A short while later, patrol officers with the LAPD’s North Hollywood division picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Infiniti on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol car. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officers tracked and located the vehicle, parked on the street in the area of Victory Boulevard and Radford Street.
The officers set up a perimeter on the unoccupied vehicle and observed as a suspect entered the vehicle and drove away from the location. The officers attempted a traffic stop but the suspect failed to comply, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect jumped from the moving vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect was located and taken into custody for auto theft-related charges without further incident. The vehicle, valued at $16,025, was recovered and impounded for safe keeping.
