Adams County Deputies Recover Rental Ford Pickup Stolen in Westminster, 4 Arrested

On July 17, 2012, the manager of a large retail and rental store contacted the Westminster Police Department to report that a $30,000 rental truck had been taken and not returned, and that efforts to recover the vehicle or identify the renter had failed.

Westminster officers verified the theft and entered the Ford’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford F-250.  LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.

A short while later, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Officer picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the deputies tracked the vehicle to the area of 72nd and Zuni Streets and contacted four people in custody of the truck.  All were detained for further investigation regarding Felony Theft of Rental Property.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Ford F-250 in January 2012.
