On Monday morning, July 30, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Toyota Avalon contacted the Margate Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in Margate, Florida. Margate Police verified the theft and had the Toyota’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Later that morning, an officer with the Margate Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Toyota on his on-board LoJack Police Tracking computer (PTC) in the 6200 block of West Sample Road. Following the directional and audible cues on the PTC’s screen, the officer, along with backup, located the vehicle parked and abandoned in a residential area in the 6000 block of North Sable Circle of Margate. The vehicle was recovered, released to the owner at the scene, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Avalon on January 30, 2007 at Al Hendrickson Toyota in Coconut Creek, Florida and has been protecting it ever since.
