Saturn Stolen from Pueblo, CO Dealership During Test Drive — LoJack Enables Quick Recovery

On July 21, 2012, the managers of a pre-owned automotive sales dealership in Pueblo, Colorado contacted the Pueblo Police Department to report that a customer who had been permitted to take a 2003 Saturn 200 for a test drive had failed to return it. When the prospective customer was overdue by several hours and no contact had been received from the customer, and auto theft report was filed.
Pueblo Police verified the theft and had the Saturn’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, officers with the Pueblo Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Saturn with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the officers tracked the vehicle to South Union Street, where they located the vehicle and detained one suspect.
The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System had been installed in this Saturn four years earlier at Spradley Chevrolet in Pueblo at the request of a previous owner. Subsequent owners of vehicles equipped with LoJack benefit from the installation of the theft recovery system, as there are no subscription fees and the LoJack can be activated whenever the vehicle is reported stolen to the police.
