On Wednesday, July 18, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Ford Fusion contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from West Clapier Street. Philadelphia Police verified the theft and had the Ford’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 39th District intercepted the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Ford on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the signal to the 5200 block of Wayne Avenue, where they observed the vehicle parked at the curb. The officers cautiously approached the vehicle and determined that it was unoccupied. They confiscated the Ford for safekeeping and notified the owner of the vehicle’s safe recovery.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford Fusion in August of 2007 at Chapman Ford of Philadelphia.
