On July 19 2012, the owner of a2008 Dodge Caliber contacted the New York Police Department’s 108th Precinct to report that his vehicle was stolen from in front of his house in Long Island City, Queens.

NYPD officers verified the theft and had the Dodge’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the NYPD’s 90th Precinct picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Dodge on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officers tracked the vehicle to  a commercial area in the East Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. There, they located they Dodge parked on the street. They staked the vehicle out for a short while; however, when no one returned for it, they took it into custody.

The vehicle was recovered in excellent condition, without any damage. The owner was notified, and was elated that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially without any damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2008 Dodge Caliber in August of 2008 at the owner’s request at Garden City Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge, in Garden City, New York.
